Contact Angle Analyser

Phoenix-MT (M,A,T)

Phoenix-MT (Multi Transformation) is a general-purpose Contact Angle Analyser with the following measurement capabilities:

  • Static contact angle (range 0-180 degree) using Sessile Drop method
  • Surface tension calculation using Pendent Drop method
  • Surface free energy calculations
  • Dynamic Contact Angle using Captive and Tilting methods (optional in P-MT M, standard in P-MT A, T variants)
  • Curved sample measurement (optional in P-MT M, standard in P-MT A, T variants)

It is uniquely designed to offer complete flexibility in measurements on a wide range of samples (patent pending).

System features and benefits

  • Modular design frame with total flexibility: Contains extendable mainframes and four modules (camera, light, stage, head) that can be easily separated and assembled for diverse measurement requirements:
    • Applicable to a wide range of samples with different sizes and shapes. No sample cutting preparation for measurements.
    • Can be turned 90 degrees by reconfiguring all modules into a vertical setup for measurements on tall/thick samples (see video)
    • User-friendly: No tools needed for changeover (hands-only)
    • Entire Tilting system configuration: For advancing and receding angle measurements, the whole system is tilted using additional modules such that the stage remains fixed with respect to camera, light, etc.
    • Additional Nano/Pico system (for measurements requiring droplet control size down to 60 picolitres)
    • Additional auto-mapping control of sample stage
  • Variants with additive modules for easy upgradeManual drop (M) → Automatic one drop (A) → Touch drop (T) control using software
  • Fully automated processes:
    • All measurements and analyses are automated, reducing personal measurement errors.
    • Drop control using software: Precisely adjust drop volume down to 1 microlitre
    • USB port connection to PC with Surfaceware software
    • Data output in Excel format for smooth data processing
  • Optical modules:
    • CCD Camera capturing at 70 FPS (315 FPS optional)
    • Lens with high-resolution zoom (12x) and focusing
    • White LED module with diffuse lighting

Technical Data

Additional configurations and types:

  • Three types of instruments are available:
    • Small type (For small lab spaces)
    • Standard type
    • Customised type (main frame length according to customer requirements)
  • Able to add an anchorage at every main frame for optional configurations such as an additional camera for Nano drop measurement.
  • Additional heating plate, heating chamber, cooling chamber, syringe heating options are available.
  • Choice of module grade by budget (Camera, sample stage, head module, LED light source). Can be upgraded any time after purchase of instrument.
