Structural Design

The DVIO-B series of Optical Table Tops guarantees superior performance levels of broad banding and rigidity that effectively minimise relative displacement in a wide frequency range. The outstanding performance level of our optical tables and breadboards is ensured by the following features:

  • Corrugated honeycomb steel core

The core is comprised of layers of steel arranged in a corrugated honeycomb fashion to increase core density and minimise cell size. These corrugated honeycomb steel layers are vertically epoxy-bonded with stainless steel top skins, carbon steel bottom skins, and sidewalls to offer static and dynamic rigidity.   • Small honeycomb core cells

Our core yields the highest core density and the smallest honeycomb cell size 2.9 cm2  – leading to increased elastic selection modulus and high natural resonance frequency of the optical tops. This yields a super rigid table top that minimises external vibrations and deflection under loads. The steel construction also ensures long-term thermal stability.

  • Sealed Mounting Holes

Contamination of the honeycomb core is prevented by individually sealing each mounting hole with non-corrosive, spill-proof nylon cups using epoxy.

  • Ultra-clean table top surface

The surface of the table top is gently sanded to achieve a non-reflecting surface. Precise tapping is followed by meticulous cleaning to remove any residual metal particles and cutting fluids from the surface.

Our Scientific Grade Optical Tops are based on broadband standard damping configurations which minimise relative displacement in a wide frequency, offering a promised performance and quality for extensive applications. They are suitable for general applications such as Raman Spectroscopy, bio-Imaging, and micro-machining.

The scientific grade optical tops provide the same features as the research grade optical tables but with reduced structural damping levels. 

200mm, 300mm, and 400mm thickness models are available in planar sizes ranging from 1000mm x 1000mm to 3600mm x 1500mm.

Our Research Grade Optical Tops offer the finest performance level of broadband damping that effectively minimises relative displacement between components in a wide frequency range. They are suitable for high-resolution applications such as holography, nanopositioning, and ultrafast optics research. They have stainless-steel tops with a honeycomb core and carbon steel bottom and sidewalls.

The research grade optical tops provide higher structural damping level, increased elastic selection modulus, and improved rigidity compared to scientific grade optical tops.

200mm, 300mm, and 400mm thickness models are available in planar sizes ranging from 1000mm x 1000mm to 3600mm x 1500mm.

Non-magnetic Stainless Steel Optical Tops

Non-magnetic stainless steel optical tops are made of 304 series ferromagnetic stainless steel for clean rooms and non-magnetic applications. The non-magnetic stainless steel optical tops provide the same features and benefits that are present in the research grade optical tops. 

The stainless steel optical tops feature the finest performance level of broadband damping that effectively minimises relative displacement in a wide frequency, superior structural damping level, and ultimate rigidity. DSAP series Aluminium optical plates offer a solid black anodised surface with a grid of M6 mounting holes for fixing end-users’ components. They provide the following features:

  • The black anodised surface reduces reflection of light and prevents the optical plates from turning rusty or corroded.
  • Selection of 12 mm and 15 mm thick aluminium optical plates is an optimal solution for mounting applications that do not require critical vibration damping.
